Building Community for Deaf Scientists

In a recent letter to Science, authors from the Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Rochester, discuss the need to create a centralized program (“hub innovation”) to improve inclusion for deaf and hard-of-hearing (D/HH) scientists.  The authors propose this program would develop and disseminate best practices for career development and training as well as provide state-of-the-art training for individuals that work with D/HH scientists. Collectively, this “hub of innovation” would help accelerate the inclusion of D/HH scientists in the biomedical research workforce.
