Blogs, Podcasts, and Webinars from around BEST
Several of our schools have a podcast or webinar series on their site. Below is a list of those schools.
Cornell University has a blog with stories about the program and its impacts.
Emory and Georgia Tech
The Atlanta BEST Magazine came out with its first Issue in August 2013. This magazine, for the most part, is run by trainees in the Atlanta BEST program and other BEST institutions. Contributing writers and inspiration come from firsthand Atlanta BEST program experiences, the nationwide consortium of BEST institutions, and engaged people who have messages to share with those working toward strengthening the biomedical workforce. The issues contain stories, information, and resources on career exploration and professional-development tips, successes, hurdles, and communities.
Rutgers publishes a blog series as a part of their iJOBS (Interdisciplinary Job Opportunities for Biomedical Scientists) program. They started their blog series in 2015. Check back often for more posts.
Vanderbilt Beyond the Lab podcast released on iTunes
The BRET Office of Career Development at Vanderbilt School of Medicine is excited to announce the launch of a new podcast series, Beyond the Lab. This adaptation of the YouTube series of the same name features career stories and advice from Vanderbilt biomedical sciences Ph.D. and postdoctoral alumni. New episodes are published weekly and you can subscribe to the series on iTunes or your favorite podcast app. The interviews cover a range of career options in academia, government, nonprofits, and industry.
Wayne State’s BEST Program Blog is devoted to news, stories, and events related to the exploration of nonacademic career options by doctoral trainees and postdoctoral scientists. They will be posting entries of interest mainly to those in the biomedical and life sciences, but any Ph.D. student interested in learning more about careers outside the academy may wish to peruse the entries. Find out how graduate training at Wayne State can lead to a fulfilling career in industry, business, government, communication, or law.
