Nature on testing new careers while in training
Nature Jobs shares the benefits of trying out other careers while in graduate school or working as a postdoctoral fellow. Given the small percentage of biology PhDs who get a tenure-track position, it makes sense to explore other options. Some do internships, while other pursue a secondary degree or launch a start up with either local or institutional guidance. The additional work requires efficiency and dedication, and for some, taking a leave of absence to fully explore a career option, but most find the extra effort worth it. Read more in Nature.
